Production of hoses for use in oil production and gas extraction

September 2014The ContiTech division of Continental AG, has invested EUR 22 million in the construction of a new hose manufacturing site in Macae, Brazil. The facility, ContiTech Dunlop Oil & Marine Brasil, will be ready to supply in 2016.

The investment in the ContiTech site has been made to meet the needs of the ever expanding Brazilian oil and gas industry. The site is perfectly and strategically located in Macae, where it can effectively serve its most important clients and make a contribution to the future development of the local region.

Products manufactured and supplied at the site include GMPHOM 2009 floating and submarine hoses, seawater intake systems for FPSOs and offloading and loading station systems.

Plant Manager, Darren Bonnell, states: “It is a huge challenge to build a new plant in a foreign country. However, the warm welcome from the local community and support from our newly formed local team has made the challenge so much easier to overcome.

“We are proud to be able to create jobs within the local community and help with the growth and development of the region. Over the next few months our recruitment, training and development of the team will gather even greater pace as we get ready for start of production later this year”.
