Dunlop Oil & Marine Ashington Achieves Certification

to ISO 9001:2015

June 2016ISO 9001:2015 represents the latest edition of ISO Quality Management Standards and moves away from the traditional emphasis on documented procedures to a process flow based system, bringing focus on risk management and customer satisfaction.

In November 2015 the team in Ashington, following major restructuring, decided to undertake a comprehensive review of processes and align these to the requirements of ISO 9001:2015. The work involved a gap analysis, a complete rewrite of the Company’s Quality Assurance Manual, and the creation of inter-departmental teams who focused on process mapping, creation of input/output diagrams, and identification of risks, mitigation and development of a methodology to allow Customer Satisfaction to be measured.

In March 2016, the company was subject to a 4 day renewal audit by independent quality assessors – Lloyds. Following the completion of the audit the assessor was extremely impressed with the work achieved, congratulated the entire team and recommended the site to have ISO 9001:2015 accreditation. The team are extremely proud of this achievement and the fact that the assessment did not result in any nonconformities or improvement notices.

Kam Zandiyeh, General Manager, Dunlop Oil and Marine said, “This is a major achievement for our site in Ashington, UK. The team went from start to being ready for assessment within only five months. This achievement is attributed to the hard work, over and above expected levels, of the entire team and it goes to show what can be accomplished by working for one another and as a team.”
